Many parents and students wonder why pink tights are so important to the attire of a ballet class.
Is it for uniformity? Is it because ballet dancers should look dainty, delicate, and like a princess? Is it because they are pretty in pink?
While all these reasons are nice benefits to dancers wearing pink, there is a practical reason for it.
The light pink shade creates shadows from a dancer's muscles on their legs while they are dancing. This allows their instructor to verify proper muscle use, make corrections, and therefore ensuring injuries are prevented.
So next ballet class, put your pink tights on with pride and know it is so you can become the best dancer you can be.
